Due to the closure of the production site of Bakkerij Smithuis in The Netherlands, Market Food Group is offering industrial bakery machines for the production for wholesale and retail bread in an online auction at Troostwijk Auctions. In doing so, other Dutch bakers will also contribute surplus bakery machines and production lines to this auction. Bidding is possible until Thursday 26 September 2024, with the auction closing at 14:00.
Market Food Group, which includes Bakkerij Smithuis, is moving all production activities from Oldenzaal to Apeldoorn. ‘The production location in Apeldoorn offers room for capacity expansion and thus further growth and continuity for the bakery group, its employees and customers for the long term,’ said Sjacco Nel, Market Food Group's managing director.
Bakkerij Smithuis was founded in 1889 by the father of the late Johan Smithuis. Johan himself joined the company in 1962. He expanded the business further and moved the bakery to Newtonstraat in Oldenzaal. The departure of Bakkerij Smithuis from Oldenzaal marks the end of years of producing bread specialities for domestic and foreign customers from retail, foodservice and wholesale. All the bakery's machines and production lines will be auctioned through Troostwijk Auctions' online platform.
Bakery machines and complete production lines
In the online auction of Bakkerij Smithuis' industrial bakery machines, other Dutch bakers such as Bakkerij Fuite and Bakkerij Van Maanen are also offering their surplus bakery machines and production lines.
Among others, a bread line for large and small loaves of bread, a 2013 Kortlever Needle-depanner, a 2003 W&P V700 high-tilt measuring machine, a 2011 Kortlever KM3000 layout machine, a 1991 Capproof proofing cabinet, a 1991 Winkler belt oven, a Capway vertical lift machine with baking moulds and a 2012 Advanced Optifreeze AGFS-20-585 spiral freezer with Niverplast packaging line are offered.
An automated spiral kneading line - consisting of three DIOSNA SP160A0 spiral kneaders, two DIOSNA W240A spiral kneaders, two stainless steel weighing bunkers, a Ter Haar tub lift and a rail set-up line - will also be auctioned. View all 164 lots in this auction here.
International market
Auctioning their surplus machinery through Troostwijk's international auction platform enables bakeries to reach international customers. The decision to auction was also made from a sustainability point of view. Because by auctioning off the machines, both Market Food Group and the other Dutch bakeries are giving their equipment a second life. And that also has an advantage for buyers: you buy machines at a price you set yourself.
