International Women's Day: 3 questions to Anna-Lena
At Troostwijk Auctions we are privileged to work with a diverse group of individuals, each bringing their own unique stories and background. It is diversity that enriches our work environment. As Europe's leading B2B auction platform, we are committed to assessing and advising with both passion and expertise, striving to make a collective impact. Today we shine a spotlight on Anna-Lena Schotzki (32) who recently joint our Brand & Growth Team as Brand & Communication Manager. For the occasion of International Women's Day on the 8th of March we like to ask her 3 important questions that hopefully inspire others.
What excites you most about your role at Troostwijk Auctions?
"I’m still fairly new to my role (I started two months ago), but I can already say that I love the dynamic environment at Troostwijk Auctions. No two days are alike, and I have the opportunity to work on multiple projects at the same time. This includes, for instance, branded content campaigns across the country (and Belgium), press releases, trend reports, and Out-of-Home campaigns. One day I’m at the office, and the next, I’m supervising a video project.
What excites me most is addressing on important topics that play a crucial role in the market and economy — and crafting stories that make them relevant with regard to our auctioning platform. By doing so I learn a lot about the different industries we are operating in, which is extra added value for me. As I am a true people person, I also really enjoy collaborating with a variety of colleagues and external partners.”
What inspired you to pursue a career in technology, specifically online auctioning?
“I’ve always been fascinated by how technology transforms industries, and online auctioning is a perfect example of that. It is extremely exciting to learn about and understand auction dynamics, where timing, pricing strategy, and engagement all play a crucial role. What really inspired me is how online auctions create accessibility and transparency, helping businesses and individuals unlock value in ways that traditional sales channels often can’t. Especially sustainability plays a crucial role, as what may no longer hold value for one party might still be valuable and beneficial to another. At Troostwijk Auctions, this is exactly what we aim to embrace: everything has value. We are committed to giving machinery, vehicles, and other assets a second (or even third) life, ensuring they continue to benefit others and contribute to a more sustainable future.”
What advice would you give to young women entering the tech/online auctioning field?
"Be curious as you will learn a lot about fields and industries you may not already be very familiar with. Be confident as women are still underrepresented in many tech sectors, including online auctioning, which enhances the value of diversity in that field. Be proud and aware that you are also actively contributing to sustainability, which is becoming more important in both tech and auction industries. In online auctioning, giving items like machinery, vehicles, or other supplies a second life is a powerful step towards sustainability. Advocate for practices that not only benefit the business but also positively impact the environment (yay!). And last but not least, have FUN and enjoy your job! Tech and online auctioning are exciting fields with endless opportunities. Embrace the challenges, celebrate the wins, and, most importantly, have fun along the way. "
