Promising energy startup falters despite recent investment
It is disappointing that such a promising and sustainable energy solution has not been able to withstand the severe market conditions. Only a few months ago, Big Ass Battery received a substantial capital injection and was considered a promising player in mobile energy storage. However, the combination of intense Chinese price competition, price deflation in the battery market, and the loss of paying customers ultimately led to the bankruptcy. A part of the company has been restarted, but the remaining assets are now being auctioned by Troostwijk Auctions.
Mobile battery containers for a zero-emission future
Big Ass Battery developed mobile battery containers as a solution for current challenges on the electricity grid, such as grid congestion, capacity shortages and the growing need for sustainable energy storage. The systems can be deployed in a wide range of locations – from construction sites and infrastructure projects to event locations and EV-charging solutions – and combine high power output with a compact footprint.
Wide range of assets: from battery packs to tools and vehicles
Following the discontinuation of activities and subsequent proceedings, a significant part of the operational assets has been made available for sale through a public online auction. The lots range from battery packs, charging and testing equipment, power electronics, tools and workshop inventory to company vehicles and office equipment.
