PRESS RELEASE 11 April 2023, Helmond

Solar cars and inventory from Lightyear are being auctioned online through Troostwijk Auctions

Always wanted a car that runs on solar energy? This is your chance to get your hands on a prototype or development car from the Dutch vehicle make, Lightyear. With Lightyear undergoing a partial relaunch, a number of vehicles and other inventory are being auctioned through the Troostwijk Auctions platform. Six vehicles, together with subframes, tyres, seats, batteries, parts and more, will go under the digital hammer. The auction closes on Monday 24 April 2023 at 10:00 am

Will your garage soon house a prototype of a car that runs on solar power? It just might. And for a price of your own choosing. Lightyear vehicles and inventory are currently being auctioned online through Troostwijk Auctions.

Unique vehicles, parts and inventory

Atlas Technologies, the company responsible for the production of the Lightyear 0, went bankrupt at the beginning of this year. Part of the company is now relaunching. In the coming years, all attention will be focused on the development of the Lightyear 2, an 'affordable' solar car costing approximately 40,000 euros.

Lightyear's vehicles and inventory are being auctioned online as a result of the bankruptcy. This is a unique opportunity for car enthusiasts and collectors. The six solar cars to be auctioned are all unique models of LIGHTYEAR 0. There are two camouflaged versions, one of which was used as a prototype and the other for testing purposes, along with a show model and other prototypes used for testing.

Parts and incomplete vehicles are also up for auction. These include some that were used in crash tests, as well as body shells. In addition, frames, electric motors, batteries, tyres, seats and an extensive range of car parts are also on offer in this auction. So the auction is definitely worth an online visit not just for car enthusiasts but also car dealers. View all 163 lots for the Lightyear auction here.
