Converting classic sports cars to a sustainable, electric version; sounds almost too good to be true. And in the end, it turns out to be. The innovative Dutch car company Voitures Extravert, which for seven years spent a lot of passion and craftsmanship completely rebuilding older Porsche models and equipping them with a modern electric powertrain, was declared bankrupt early this year.
The bankruptcy of the Dutch builder of classic electric Porsches marks the end of an ambitious adventure. This also means a unique opportunity for car enthusiasts, collectors and professionals: Troostwijk Auctions is organising an online auction offering various electric Porsches, parts and specialist tools. The auction is currently open. Bidding is possible until Wednesday 2 April, with the auction closing at 16:00.
How a good idea didn't work out after all
It is clear: the lack of success for this Dutch car maker is definitely not down to the idea. The company managed to enthuse car enthusiasts who are well off in the slack and received a lot of media attention from Dutch magazine Quote and others.
Yet the step from idea to successful production proved not easy. Building electric sports cars based on existing cars involved technical challenges, and supply problems at suppliers caused delays. In addition, investments were large, while revenues from new sales lagged. Eventually, the company could no longer handle the financial pressure and had to close its doors.
A unique opportunity for collectors and specialists
Due to this bankruptcy, all cars, parts and tools of the innovative car company are currently being auctioned through Troostwijk Auctions' online platform.
This auction offers a rare opportunity for fans of a 911 or other classic models and electric drive technology to get their hands on a piece of automotive history. Anyone looking for a complete electric Porsche, specific parts for these classic cars or specialised tools should not miss this auction!
