Ward van den Boorn takes the lead at Troostwijk Auctions NL

Ward van den Boorn - Country Manager Troostwijk Auctions NL

Amsterdam, 17 October 2025 – Troostwijk Auctions, Europe’s largest B2B auction house, celebrates its 95th anniversary this year. Since 1930, the company has been connecting buyers and sellers of industrial assets across Europe. With nearly a century of expertise and trusted relationships, Troostwijk is now building towards a future where auctions play a key role in reuse, efficiency, and sustainable growth — under the leadership of Ward van den Boorn, the new Country Director for the Netherlands.

Relationships and partnerships at the core
After 95 years, one thing remains unchanged: the importance of trust and collaboration. In his new role, Van den Boorn continues to place people and trust at the centre:

“We combine the technological strength of our international network with personal relationships and local expertise. Our sellers and buyers rely on the knowledge we’ve built up over 95 years — and we intend to keep nurturing those relationships, just as we always have.”

Auctions as a growth channel for used industrial assets
Auctions represent a significant, yet still relatively small, share of the used industrial equipment market. However, Troostwijk Auctions is seeing strong growth: today, 90% of its auctions come from healthy businesses that voluntarily sell their used machinery to free up capital for new investments. In addition, the auction house continues to facilitate insolvency auctions.

Van den Boorn explains:

“I see auctions as a transparent and efficient way to trade used industrial assets. European circular ambitions and broader efficiency goals are key drivers of our growth. Our strategy focuses on a future where transparency, circularity, and international cooperation become the standard.”

From international experience to local expertise
At parent company TBAuctions, Van den Boorn previously led the Financial Planning & Analysis team and worked on strategic initiatives such as developing market insights based on data. He was also involved in several group acquisitions. Now, in the Netherlands, he brings together this experience with a focus on the local market and partnerships — further strengthening Troostwijk Auctions’ position as a trusted link in Europe’s circular economy.

“For 95 years, Troostwijk has been about relationships and trust — it’s at the heart of our organisation,” says Van den Boorn. “That will remain true in the future. Our customers benefit from this focus, combined with a powerful data platform and international network. In doing so, we help them unlock capital, strengthen their competitiveness, and contribute to a sustainable, circular economy.”
