Amsterdam/Rotterdam, 26 June – A Formula 1 car, but with a difference. Troostwijk Auctions is currently auctioning a remarkable art object: a life-size replica of a Formula 1 car, made entirely from recycled metal. The impressive sculpture weighs more than 2,000 kilos and has been handcrafted from thousands of industrial metal components.
The car is not a working vehicle, but a unique example of industrial craftsmanship. From a distance, the object looks like a powerful racing car; up close, it becomes clear how every detail has been constructed from reused metal parts. This makes the artwork not only an eye-catcher for enthusiasts of motorsport, design and industrial art, but also a tangible example of how used materials can be given a second life.

“This is exactly the kind of object that shows everything has value,” says Ward van den Boorn, Country Director Netherlands at Troostwijk Auctions. “What were once separate industrial components have been brought together here to create an impressive work of art. It is large, heavy, detailed and, above all, unique. A true eye-catcher for a showroom, business premises, collection or event.”
The Formula 1 replica has been made on a one-to-one, life-size scale and is unique worldwide. Because of its size and visual impact, the object is particularly interesting for collectors, automotive companies, showrooms, event venues, museums, hospitality concepts or companies looking for a statement piece with a story.
A similar Bugatti sculpture made from recycled metal was previously offered. That object was sold immediately for €100,000 to entrepreneur and collector Michel Perridon, for his Bugatti collection. This Formula 1 replica is also expected to attract interest from collectors and companies in the Netherlands and abroad.
The car can be viewed on Monday 29 June 2026 from 13:00 to 16:00 at Nieuwesluisweg 190, 3197 KV Botlek Rotterdam, The Netherlands (port number 50). The auction is taking place via Troostwijk Auctions. Interested parties can place bids online via Troostwijk Auctions.
